APM Scottish Conference on Interfacing
A joint venture between the Scottish Chapter of the APM, the APM Earned Value Management SIG and the APM Risk SIG resulting in the hosting of a one-day conference in Glasgow focussed on EVM and RM and how these two disciplines should interact to deliver best practice.
Targeting experienced practitioners and those new to these fields the APM created a packed and interactive day with keynote speeches and workshops being delivered by a number of recognised leaders in their respective fields. These included Steve Wake (Chairman of the APM EVM SIG), Peter Campbell (Chairman of the APM RM SIG) and Val Jonas (CEO of Risk Decisions Group) Val Jonas and Lauren Bone (Bone Consulting) gave an insightful presentation addressing how EVM and RM should be used in conjunction with each other to help deliver project excellence. Facilitated discussion groups on the same topic followed which generated a thoughtful and lively Q&A.
After some excellent lunchtime refreshments Val Jonas delivered a white paper inspired lecture – Successful Planners take Risk! The audience were given a number of valuable best practise tips on how to build schedules that are ‘risk ready’. In summary the APM delivered a well-supported and educational day that was extremely well received by the
delegates who attended.
